We all know about rewards and rebate programs on credit cards that pay you cash back on purchases. But, did you know if you are disciplined and have enough money, you can actually make money on these programs. Here is how:
Get a cash-back card. To begin the process, you need to get a cash-back rewards card that pays you every time you use the card at the types of stores that you frequent. The sometimes are limited by the card issuer to drug stores or other retailers. However, you can find cards where there are no restrictions. Be sure to look at the fine print and details on the agreement before you sign up. Then, pick the best card that you can find and apply for it.
Pay it off monthly. Remember that this strategy only works if you pay off the balance before the due date every month. So you should know what that date is, and know what time of day the payment is to be at the card issuers’ offices. There are some cards that have a time requirement, too. Make sure that you have income sufficient to make this work. Do not go into this if you are in financial hardship with other credit cards or loans.
Watch cash back accumulate. Once you begin this process, the accrual and payout is automatic on the part of the card company. Also, they will either credit your account with the cash-back money, or send it to you in check format.
Perform with multiple cards. Now, if you can manage this, you can make even more by applying for additional cards that will do the same thing. Keep in mind that you must know the due dates and other details explicitly in order to make this work.
Amounts vary. While the cash-back amounts vary because of the amount of money that you charge, you can see totals in the hundreds of dollars and even upwards of $1,000 using this strategy.
There are websites that feature information and comparison charts on the most popular of cash-back credit cards. You can benefit from these sites by getting the best card with the best options. You might even be able to find a great balance transfer card with which you can save money by moving your balances to a card that allows you to work on getting the balance paid down.
Whichever route you choose, make sure that you already incorporate sound credit practices in your life and that you are the one that controls your credit card accounts, not the other way around.
