We are all here: looking for ways to make our money go farther. This topic has been beat to death, but there are a few
things that are worth reminding you about so that you can keep more of your hard-earned money. Plus you still need to do things that are out of the normal routine, or you will become bored out of your mind. Here are some ways that you can find cheaper ways to do some of these things.
Going to Movies – during Matinee times. Resolve to go to movies during the matinee time because you can save up to ½ over the regular price. Also, avoid buying expensive candy, popcorn and drinks. Eat before you go so that you are not hungry. If you cannot get past the smell of the popcorn, just buy a small bag. Most people do not eat all that they buy anyway.
Going to Dinner – earlier when prices are lower. Some restaurants offer lower prices between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Even if this isn’t an option, you can see how late the lunch menu items are offered. They are often much less expensive than the regular dinner entrées would be.
Going Shopping – AFTER major sales events. Refuse to buy things during seasonal shopping times except for the bare minimum. If the ‘sales’ prices look good right before Christmas, think about how much lower they will be right AFTER Christmas. Consider moving your Christmas gift giving time to the weekend of New Years. That way, you can take advantage of the Christmas sales. But, keep your Christmas celebrations when you would normally have them.
Going to Entertainment Events – look online for cheaper tickets. Want to go to a concert, but the tickets are nearing $100 each? Go to Internet sites like www.stubhub.com which is a ticket auction site that operates much like Ebay. You can find some pretty incredible deals there. Why pay the face value when you can get tickets for major sporting events and concerts for less?
This is just a partial list of ways to find cheaper ways to do things, but at least it will give you some ideas and inspiration to be more frugal minded. Once things improve and get back to ‘normal’ you will find that this is a better way to live, so keep going with these suggestions. It will help you keep more of your money and put it to better uses. That is advice we can all use!
