Tesla is an innovator in the car industry. Not only are their cars electric, moving them away from the standard every day gas pump warfare, but they are also innovating the way you buy a car. Tesla has no dealerships and they show no signs of changing that model anytime soon.
Rather than utilize a car dealership, with shady practices, creep salesmen, undercutting, overpricing and hidden fees, Tesla handles it all themselves. Opting for exceptional customer service and opting out of scams and plans to create excessive costs, Tesla has a plan to help people save money and have the ability to travel in style. They will not franchise or create dealerships. Instead, Tesla maintains full ownership of all galleries, similar to how Apple owns its own Apple stores.
Tesla does have galleries and places to refill your energy cells, but each of these is owned by Tesla, and instead of traveling to who knows where to get who knows what kind of car, Tesla delivers it to you almost anywhere.
So will Tesla ever give up and get a dealership program? At this point it seems unlikely. Tesla’s unique car buying proposition has created a stir in some states to the point of creating bans on new cars not purchased at dealerships, yet Tesla isn’t going to give in to hardcore pressure tactics. This would compromise Tesla’s ability to serve their customers on such a high level. It would undo the things the Tesla has worked so hard to achieve, including excellent customer service.
It would also remove Tesla’s ability to create a car with the high standards that they have cultivated, without dealer scams such as add-ons and hidden costs. Tesla’s commitment to the customer leads to better outcomes all the way around.
Currently, all Tesla cars are shipped from Fremont, California which is where the company’s headquarters are located. Each Tesla is custom made and designed especially for its owner – now that’s customer service!
Even phone conversations with their Tesla sales associates surge with energy and appreciation for this fine vehicle and the innovations being made by the company each day. Speaking with those who actually sell the car is like talking to a beaming parent after their child has receives the student of the month award. They have an unmatched enthusiasm for their job and the company they work for. They even go above and beyond to help you learn to save money by buying a Tesla.
Tesla is afraid that if they moved toward the dealership model for sales of their product that they would lose this personal interaction and the customer service advantage of their current business model.
Because of the superior customer service and money-saving tactics of the company, you should definitely consider buying a Tesla the next time you shopping for a new car.
