These apps for taxes do everything from categorizing transactions for deductions to organizing your tax returns. If you want to make filing your taxes easier this year, try out a few of these great apps for taxes.
Expensify
The Expensify app lets users take photographs of receipts and import data from banks and credit cards to create organized expense sheets that can be stored for later use. Considered one of the best apps for taxes, Expensify offers a free account that gives users 10 receipt scans a month. Team accounts starting at $5 a month can be purchased for larger loads.
H&R Block
H&R Block has several apps that can be used to file a return, estimate taxes or track your refund. The apps are free, but you might have to pay a fee to submit your forms.
IRS2Go
IRS2Go is one of the IRS’s official apps for taxes. This free app for Apple and Android devices finds free tax preparation services in your area, lets you to request copies of your tax records, and provides a way for you to track the status of your refund.
ItsDeductible
ItsDeductible, offered by TurboTax, is a free app that tracks your donations online or through your iPhone, including drop-offs and cash donations. The app will give you a suggested resale value for donated items and TurboTax users can import the data into their tax forms.
MileBug
MileBug automatically tracks your travel for expensing your employer or claiming tax deductions. The information obtained can be used to create easy to read reports in either a CSV or HTML format. The app costs $2.99 and is available for iPhones, Android phones, and Windows phones.
MileIQ
Install MileIQ on your iPhone to automatically track all your travel. The app logs the information into reports that can be used for a tax deduction or submitted for employer reimbursement. The free version allows drivers to log 40 drives per month. Paid versions cost $5.99 a month or $59.99 annually.
OneReceipt
OneReceipt lets you use your iPhone to photograph receipts and index them for storage. The app is currently available for the iPhone, but Android and Windows users can sign up for an account online. The program is free for users.
PowerWallet
PowerWallet links to your bank and financial accounts to track spending and organize expenses. The app also lets users create a budget and set up bill alerts. Accounts on Power Wallet are free.
Shoeboxed
The Shoeboxed app and website allow you to send financial documents to the company where its workers will process and verify the information. A free version of Shoeboxed is available that lets you do most of the processing or you can let Shoeboxed do the processing for you for up to 1,000 documents a month for $9.95 a month.
TurboTax
TurboTax has released a mobile app that lets users to take photos of their W-2s and automatically import the information into their tax forms. The app is free, but there might be a fee to submit your paperwork to the IRS.
