These days I find that people are pretty stressed out, and its becoming tougher and tougher to hustle and get by every year, but what is important to remember is that the journey to your goals is part of the fun, and its best to laugh all the failures off along the way. In the meantime, its crucial not to let stress take over your life, as stress can be a killer (literally). Here are our top ways to relieve stress when things get tense!
Massages
Working is very stressful, so I like to get a full body massage at least once per month. Stress literally causes knots to build up throughout your entire body (feel free to look up the science behind it). Make sure you do your research so that you go to a professional place that know what they are doing. After you walk out, you’ll feel amazing, refreshed, and ready to grind out more hours and get that money! Oh, and you’ll exude a vibe of feeling relaxed and confident.
Yoga
Yoga is the most amazing invention, much better than Facebook, and even the pyramids. Not only does it relieve stress, it also increases flexibility throughout your whole body, which is incredibly good for your long-term health. What I particularly like is hot yoga, which is exactly what it sounds like, yoga in a room heated at 95 degrees. For yoga, make sure that you do some research beforehand or talk to some friends that have done yoga. I remember my girlfriend and I went to a new yoga spot a few weeks back, and we essentially paid to lay down and breath deeply, when in reality yoga should feel like an intense workout, so make sure you get what you pay for.
The reason yoga still counts as a stress reliever despite its intensity is because stretching your muscles and meditating refreshes you both physically and mentally, and keeps your body in tip top shape. So get in the habit of doing yoga at least weekly, and if you cant make time for a full yoga class in addition to your workouts (I find it tough with my schedule sometimes), then at least make sure you stretch at the end of every workout.
Sex
This is not meant to be vulgar, and it’s not. Sex is simply scientifically proven to release high amounts of dopamine to the brain and plenty of sex pheromones (which you can now enhance by purchasing these online), which bring pleasure throughout your whole body, and we all need to be taking advantage of it. Aside from relieving stress, sex is also an excellent cardio workout, so find a partner and get to it, obviously in a protected manner!
Making money
Ah yes the most old fashion stress reliever in the book, making money. When you first start working and saving, you’ll find that trying to make money is actually quite stressful. However, once you’ve been doing it for 10-20 years you’ll see that having money and making more money is actually pretty relieving. This is because worrying about money (paying rent, costs for food and clothing etc.) is the main stressor for most people, but it’s not really a worry if you have $5 million in the bank, because you’re well beyond financial freedom at that point, so get started making money ASAP. Don’t forget, it also pays for the massages, yoga, and indirectly maybe for even sex! (I can’t say I know too many people having sex that don’t have money to buy clothes or pay for rent!) This is a personal finance website, but if you’re interested in learning about this department, give us a holler and maybe we’ll post a dating article.
Socializing
Socializing? Probably not too fun if you have social anxiety, but science shows that people are generally more relaxed and happy when they are surrounded by people that they love and trust. Further, have you noticed you feel a bit of excitement when you start a conversation with a stranger? This is because your brain is communicating to your body that there is danger (weird), and it basically jolts your body with energy so that you are prepared to act. This is science derived from our reptilian brain, as we used to have to worry about giant animals eating us (no houses or constructed apartments.) So, getting out of your comfort zone like this, although scary at first, can eventually be a great stress reliever and a way to give yourself an extra boost of happiness and excitement.
In the end, stress is actual a major cause of illnesses and diseases long term, so make sure you are managing your stress while working, and remember that a little bit of stress is great if it keeps you working hard and on point, but past a certain point, stress will really hurt you long term; just ask the 32 year old in my office who is already balding!
Until next time!
