Perry Noble is an American pastor and former preacher of NewSpring church, a mega church in Anderson, South Carolina. He was born on June 24, 1971. His sermons are some of the most famous in the world, having been watched by over 32,000 people across South Carolina and via online streams. His former Church, NewSpring Church is the largest megachurch in the U.S. with an average attendance of 23,000 per sermon.
What we all probably didn’t know is that Perry’s job is really a cash king, which is a bit controversial for a religious event. Mega churches were relatively non-existent until the 1970’s and now there are over 1,600 mega churches throughout the U.S, 70% of them being located in the Southern U.S. California, Texas, Florida, and Georgia have the highest amount out of any states. Some mega-churches even look like malls, fit with a Starbucks, McDonald’s and other shops.
It’s interesting to me that no one would say religion has a focus on money, and I’m not making any assumptions as religion is a personal topic, but it is a fact that these megachurch organizations are making millions upon millions of dollars. Make no mistake, they are businesses with marketing strategies and accounting teams, and paid pastors (employees). In 2012 alone, NewSpring church had revenue of $36 million and $10 million. Read that one again, so much for a vow of poverty.
And hey that’s a pretty good profit margin for any company!
Childhood
Perry’s mother died from cancer when he was only 12, which had a major impact on him. He stated that being in hospitals was very tough for him, even years after the death of his mother. Perry’s father was married to several women as well which probably was not easy for Perry.
Career Controversies
Noble has been accused of racism in some of his pastor work. His Church, stated publicly that the allegations made against Noble using the n word were not true, although Perry has stated that his upbringing involved a lot of racism and that he did not see black people as real people. He also stated that his life as a pastor has changed this attitude significantly, and that he is very accepting of all people now.
Noble also had a serious miscue involving The Ten Commandments where he made a sarcastic remark saying that the Hebrew language didn’t have a word for “command” when in fact they do. Further, he may have offended those that practice Hebrew inferring that they don’t have any values. This was a very controversial topic especially coming on Christmas Eve.
On July 10, 2016 Noble was laid off from his duties as Senior Pastor at NewSpring Church mainly due to alcohol abuse and lack of duties, but when you see his net worth it is clear he is still winning out.
Net Worth
Perry Noble has a net worth of approximately $4 million as of 2017.
This is based on estimates of his average salary and expense throughout his time at NewSpring. Noble has kept his financials private, but we know that most large megachurch pastors are making upwards of $1 million per year, and given that NewSpring is the largest in the world we can assess that he is making millions!
Despite his controversial practices, Perry Noble is an excellent public speaker and a influential person across the U.S. He has written three books throughout his career aimed at helping other in his communities based on his own past learning experiences.
Why is a personal finance website writing about a preacher? Good question: well, because he is a man who went out into the world and followed his dreams, and he has become a wealthy person as a result.
So the lesson here, is to start chasing after your dreams, now, and one day you’ll have that “pinch me” moment where you’ll make it, and you can thank us then;)
