January 6th

Trump has gone on record as calling some veterans “suckers” and questioning their motives for fighting. RFK Jr.

According to Politico, Kennedy’s views on the environment, vaccines, and gun laws are encouraging voters to turn away from Trump and choose him as the alternative to Biden.

Abortion Laws

Trump played a significant part in overturning Roe v. Wade in 2022 and looks set to continue to support pro-life judges. However, Trump is said to believe a federal abortion ban is not required and has aimed criticism at GOP members who want a six-week ban. Some hardline voters do not believe that any circumstance warrants abortion and will, therefore, not be voting for Trump.

Ukraine

Trump has gone on record to say he wanted to withdraw U.S. troops from military bases in South Korea, Somalia, and Germany. If he was to secure a second term, he could continue to fight for military withdrawals. These views go against some GOP voters who want a robust military presence worldwide.

The House Oversight Committee discovered $7 million in payments from foreign governments that were paid into Trump’s businesses during his time as president. While Trump defended the payments as being voluntary, some Republicans believe this a violation of the Constitution’s foreign emoluments clause and, therefore, Trump cannot be trusted.

Let’s explore the world of Trumpisms, where every sentence is a journey, and logic is often left at the door. Remember, we’re here for a laugh, even if it comes with a bit of disbelief!  

“Laziness is a trait in blacks.”

Trump’s attempt at racial commentary sounds like he skipped every history and sociology class ever offered. According to O’Donnell’s 1991 book, Trump said this to him. He showcased his ignorance and his willingness to stereotype an entire race. It’s like he’s trying to be the villain in a movie about racial equality, but nobody’s casting! Despite this, there has been a surge in black Americans voting for Americans, according to one survey.  

“A well-educated black has a tremendous advantage over a well-educated white in terms of the job market.”

When Trump tossed this zinger into the 1989 conversational mix, he seemed to think he was flipping the script on racial dynamics in the job market. The irony here is thicker than a triple-decker sandwich at a deli. Trump, in his infinite wisdom, decided to rewrite the narrative on systemic racism and diversity hiring, turning it into a bizarre and not-so-accurate fantasy.  

“They’re rapists … some, I assume, are good people.”

Trump’s 2015 presidential campaign took off with this sweeping generalization about Mexican immigrants, painting them with a broad and quite dark brush. The reluctant “I assume” tacked on at the end did little to make the sting of his words less harsh. Many people accused him of insensitivity and a glaring lack of care.  

“I have thousands of Hispanics that work for me.”

In response to criticism about his views on immigration, Trump proudly proclaimed his employment statistics as if they were a magical shield against accusations of racism. It’s a classic case of using a thin veil of employment data to sidestep the larger, more complex issues at hand. It’s just like, “I’m not racist – most of my friends are black.”  

“No bones about it.”

After being accused of racism, Trump declared his skeletal system completely free of any racist tendencies. It’s a metaphor that falls flat, considering bones can’t be racist. This statement seems to reflect a misunderstanding of how racism works – it’s not about the bones but the beliefs and actions.

Trump’s 1989 use of a racial slur to refer to Japanese people while discussing real estate reminded most people of an era they’d rather forget. It’s a remark that lacks historical sensitivity and shows a jarring disregard for respectful language. In today’s world, such a term is widely recognized as offensive and antiquated.  

“You have to treat ’em like sh*t.”

However, some argued it seemed less like a genuine change of heart and more like a hasty attempt to mend a public image that had taken a nosedive.

Sure, this tweet showed his taste, but it also showed his readiness to publicly bash a popular show.  

“I look very much forward to showing my financials, because they are huge.”

When Trump said this to TIME in 2011, it was less of a humblebrag and more of a full-on trumpet blast of self-praise. This statement makes him seem like a peacock strutting around, but instead of feathers, it’s bank statements and asset portfolios. It’s a rare blend of bravado and finance, sort of like if Wall Street had its own reality show.  

“The concept of shaking hands is absolutely terrible.”

In a 2004 interview with Playboy, Trump revealed his hatred for handshaking, which is mostly because he’s a germaphobe. Imagine walking into a business meeting and offering a nod instead of a handshake. It was a revolutionary stance on social norms that might’ve just been ahead of its time!  

“Sorry losers and haters, but my IQ is one of the highest.”

In this tweet, Trump declared his intellectual superiority and took a swing at his critics. This was a typical Trump tweet – it was practically a verbal fireworks display. This tweet danced on the line of self-confidence wearing neon lights. It’s less of an IQ boast and more of a verbal victory lap around the Twitter racetrack.  

“I think Viagra is wonderful if you need it, I’ve just never needed it.”

Trump’s 2004 commentary to Playboy on Viagra was an unsolicited personal bulletin. It’s not every day you hear a billionaire real estate mogul discussing erectile dysfunction medication in a casual interview. It’s like a chef giving a review of fast food – unexpected and slightly off-topic. This comment was over-sharing with a capital ‘O.’  

“All of the women on The Apprentice flirted with me – consciously or unconsciously.”

In his 2004 book, Trump made a bold claim about his irresistible charm to the female contestants of ‘The Apprentice.’ This claim paints a picture of Trump as a sort of modern-day Casanova on the set of a reality TV show. He positioned himself as the star of a romantic comedy where he’s the leading man, and the spotlight never dims.  

“She does have a very nice figure… If [Ivanka] weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.”

When Trump shared this line about his daughter Ivanka on The View in 2006, it was more than just a father’s innocent compliment. It had TV audiences nationwide spitting out their morning coffee. This wasn’t your usual praise from your father – it was something that many people thought was too much.  

“Climate change is a hoax.”

Trump’s stance on climate change zigzags more than a rabbit in a veggie garden. At one moment, he’s nodding along about global warming, and the next, he’s tossing the entire concept out the window like an unwanted spinach salad. But he’s not alone in this viewpoint. According to one YouGov poll, around 17% of Americans also think it’s fake.

“Google is out to get me.”

In a world where Trump battles the internet giants, he sees Google as the villain in his superhero movie. He accused them of stacking the deck with negative stories.’ It’s his version of a tech conspiracy thriller where he’s the underdog against the big, bad search engine. It’s something he even says today!  

“The votes are being tampered with.”

On the topic of voter fraud, Trump was relentless. He clung to this idea with the determination of a toddler refusing to let go of a candy bar. Despite lacking evidence, Trump continued hammering this narrative as if hoping repetition would somehow make it true. Unfortunately for him, it isn’t!  

“Windmills are trying to kill us.”

Trump’s claim about wind turbines causing cancer was a startling departure from the scientific consensus. It was a remarkable misunderstanding of environmental technology. This baseless accusation against wind energy disregarded the facts and undermined efforts to promote sustainable energy sources.  

“Grab them by the p***y.”

This 2005 comment, surfacing in 2016, was a jarring example of Trump’s disregard for basic decency and respect towards women. The rudeness of his words revealed a troubling attitude and a lack of understanding about consent. It was part of a broader conversation about sexual harassment and misconduct. Despite this, one Vox poll shows most Republicans don’t care about this comment.  

“She’s not very tough and she’s not very sharp.”

Trump’s critical remarks about Megyn Kelly in 2015 were an unnecessary and disrespectful attack on her professional capabilities. This comment highlighted his tendency to belittle and undermine women, particularly those in the media who challenged him. Many people were critical of this view.  

“They’re sending rapists.”

Trump’s characterization of Mexican immigrants in 2015 was overly simplistic and dangerously inflammatory. This statement encouraged harmful stereotypes and fueled xenophobic sentiments. Some people argued it showed a lack of sensitivity and a disregard for the complexity of immigration issues.  

“I love Hispanics.”

Trump’s 2016 declaration of affection for Hispanics was seen by many as insincere and opportunistic. The timing and context of the statement made it seem more like a political ploy than a genuine expression of appreciation. For many people, it raised questions about his authenticity.  

“Black Lives Matter is a symbol of hate.”

Trump’s characterization of the Black Lives Matter movement as a symbol of hate was deeply divisive. Some people argued it was dismissive of the legitimate concerns and experiences of the African American community. This statement ignored the movement’s message against systemic racism and police brutality.  

“Total shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.”

Trump’s proposal for a total ban on Muslims entering the U.S. following the San Bernardino shooting was a drastic and discriminatory measure. It reflected a sweeping generalization and a lack of understanding about the diversity within the Muslim community. It contributed to an atmosphere of fear and intolerance.
